Mixed Bed Resin Filters are the most popular and exceed the performance of older types of cartridges. The DI resin process purifies the water by passing water through two resins that have opposite charges to remove ionized minerals and salts from the water. 

The plastic beads contain charged anions and cations. The beads with the negative charge are anion resins, and the resins with a positive form are cation resins. Cation resins are present in the form of H⁺ in deionization, and anion resins are present in the form of OH^–.
