For hard water supplies, SpectraPure® recommends the use of a Water Softener ahead of the Reverse Osmosis System for efficient water purification production and operation, water saving and longer life of the membrane. The Water Softener will replace the hardness (mineral, calcium and magnesium) in the water with sodium. This prevents mineral-scale buildup on the RO membrane. Alternating Twin-Bed Softeners provide a continuous, uninterrupted supply of soft water to the RO System at all times, allowing the RO System to operate 24 hours a day when needed. Note: Single-Bed Softeners, when used to supply water to an RO Unit, must be purchased with the Micro-switch option (see table below) which turns the power off to the RO System when the softener is regenerating. SpectraPure® Water Softeners of greater capacity than those listed above are also available. Contact SpectraPure® Technical Support <service@spectrapure.com> for details.
